Pedraforca

The Pedraforca National Park is under an hour's drive from where I live. This imposing 2497m peak, with its limestone cliffs, dominates the surrounding area. Home to golden eagles and peregrine falcons, I paid it my first visit today.

Driving up from Saldes, you can get to the lower slopes by car. I mis-timed my trip today, so I wasn't able to climb particularly high, looping round from the eastern face to the northern side. Photographs simply cannot convey the scale of the massive cliffs and crags that loom over you as you walk, made all the more sinister by the mist and clouds that cling to them.

Unfortunately I wasn't in a good photographic groove and wasn't happy with the shots I took. I've posted a handful in a new Pedraforca album, but I will definitely be adding to it with future visits.
