Went to see Jimmy Carr's one man show at The Bloomsbury Set yesterday.
Exceptionally funny and highly recommended. The classified ads section is a particular highlight. It also proved a somewhat surreal experience, as I went to both school and uni with Jimmy. It was strange seeing someone I remember from that context keep a packed audience laughing but it was great to see how well he's doing.
He's filming his DVD of the show at the theatre tonight. Worth getting hold of if you don't get a chance to see the show live.
I read this article on the plethora of boring photography and what drives so many people to take fundamentally boring photos.
It made for rather painful reading as I recognise far too many of the symptoms in my own photography! However, it's refreshing to read someone pointing out the blandness of this approach and has forced me to ponder 'the big question' as the author puts it.
In the spirit of keeping things sporadic it's been many months since I last posted any updates. After going a bit techie, I became hypercritical of my ramblings, deleting them not long after posting.
Anyway, I'm busy with a new project related to the Royal Photographic Society which I'm hoping to pull together for launch before the summer is out. More on this closer to completion. Also busy planning a trip to South America for the autumn or new year.
With a bit of luck I'll squeeze in some updates to the photography area too!
